Today the drone was left firmly in it's case as we headed towards Glenfarg and it's infamous abandoned railway tunnels. Completed at the end of April 1889 the Glenfarg series of viaducts and tunnels affored the railways a 10 mile shortcut between Bridge of Earn and Mawcarse junction to the south. To conquer the hilly ridge between them, two viaducts and two tunnels were needed in a little over 1½ miles. This section formed part of a challenging 1:74 ascent to the summit at Glenfarg which gave its name to one of the viaducts and both tunnels. Each tunnel is well over 500yds in length and around 26ft in width. Services continued for a few months short of 80 years, ending on 5th January 1970. Despite being the shortest route from Perth to Edinburgh by some distance, the railway through Glenfarg was sacrificed to allow the M90 motorway to occupy sections of the trackbed. During our walk in the south tunnel we came across what looked like a person hunched over however as we got closer in the darkness we discovered what was presumably an art piece consisting of a plaster head with a straw and mud body. This certainly creeped us out and left us looking over our shoulders for the rest of the day. Intro Music from www.freesound.org/people/Tomdoff/sounds/218794/
