What face shape do you have? Step 1) measure the distance from your forehead at your hairline down to your chin. Step 2) measure your jaw line at the widest point (about an inch from your ears) Step 3) measure from your temple to temple All done! If your face length is greater than your face width you are either oval or heart shaped. You are heart shaped if your chin is pointy. You are oval if your chin is curved. If your face length is not greater than your face width then you are either square or round. You are square if your chin is boxy. You are round if your chin is rounded. Picking a style: Oval : You can wear any style Round: Choose a style that does not add width to sides or is rounded. You can choose something, short medium or long. Side swept bangs or no bangs. Heart shaped: a style with side swept bangs, body and length that go past the chin. Med to long is best Square: Long layered styles that hits below the jaw. Short med or long works. If you choose short you can select a style that adds height. Also one that directs hair toward face not away from it. Additional tips: take into consideration hair type when selecting a style. Thin hair does not look good long. And really thick hair does not work well real short. Consult your hairdresser for a style that will not only work best with your face shape but will also work with your hair type, and age. Select styles that direct attention to the features of your face that you like and hide the the ones you don't like. Get an objective perspective by finding photos of people that look most like you and have a similar face shape ,neck , body type, and age if possible. At the very least it will give you ideas of what direction to go. :)
